How much does tree surgery cost in Surrey?

The cost of tree surgery depends on the type of work needed, the size and condition of the tree, access to the site, safety considerations and whether waste needs to be removed. Smaller pruning jobs are usually more straightforward, while larger reductions, removals or trees close to buildings may need more time and specialist equipment. We’ll always give clear pricing before starting any work.

Do I need permission to have a tree removed?

Some trees are protected by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) or may be in a Conservation Area. We can check this for you and help with any necessary applications.

Can you reduce the height or spread of a tree?

Yes. Crown reduction can reduce the height or spread of a tree while keeping its natural shape as much as possible. This is often a good option if a tree has become too large for the garden, is blocking light, overhanging buildings, or starting to feel difficult to manage.

What is the difference between pruning, crown reduction and crown thinning?

Pruning usually means cutting back selected branches to improve the shape, health or safety of the tree. Crown reduction reduces the overall size of the tree. Crown thinning removes selected branches from within the canopy to allow more light and air through, without changing the tree’s overall size too much.

Will you take away the branches and waste?

Yes. We can remove branches, logs and green waste as part of the job, leaving the area tidy once the work is complete. If you would like to keep logs for firewood or wildlife areas, just let us know before we start.

Can you work on trees close to houses, fences or roads?

Yes. Trees near buildings, fences, greenhouses, roads or neighbouring gardens need careful planning. We’ll assess the space around the tree and use the safest method for the location, often dismantling sections carefully rather than cutting large branches in one go.

Can you help if I’m not sure whether a tree needs cutting back or removing?

Yes. You don’t need to know the exact type of tree surgery before getting in touch. Tell us what’s worrying you, whether it’s size, safety, light, overhanging branches or storm damage, and we’ll advise on the most sensible option.
