FAQ's

How much does hedge trimming cost?

Hedge trimming starts from £140, with final costs depending on the size, height, access and amount of waste. Smaller hedges are usually quick and affordable, while larger or overgrown hedges take more time. Send us photos for a fast estimate.

The cost of hedge removal depends on the size, height, access, root structure and how much green waste needs to be taken away. A small hedge may be fairly straightforward, while a mature, overgrown or well-established hedge can take longer, especially if roots or stumps need removing too.

Send us a few photos via WhatsApp or email info@nativeforest.co.uk of the hedge, the access and the surrounding area, and we can give you a fast estimate before arranging a visit.

Most hedges benefit from trimming 1–2 times per year to keep them neat and healthy. Fast-growing hedges may need more regular maintenance.

There are different rules depending on the type of hedge and where it is. Newer hedgerow management rules came into force in England in 2024, mainly covering hedges on or next to agricultural land. These include rules around cutting, trimming and protecting hedgerows.

For domestic garden hedges, the main issue is usually neighbour disputes over high hedges. Local councils can consider complaints about certain high hedges under the Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003, but this normally applies to evergreen or semi-evergreen hedges that are over two metres high and affecting the enjoyment of a home or garden.

If you are unsure whether your hedge can be cut, reduced or removed, it is worth checking with your local council first, especially if the hedge is protected, close to a boundary, or could contain nesting birds. We can advise on the practical side of hedge cutting and removal, but legal responsibility remains with the property owner.
